Born and raised in the mountains of Southern California, Josh Avis grew up in the small town of Lake Gregory. Josh fell in love with art at an early age, drawing on the walls of his bedroom and on anything he could get his hands on to sketch out a quick cartoon. At the age of 19, God drew Josh’s heart closer to Himself, and since then God has graciously continued to hold him through seasons of both hope and restoration. Josh graduated from San Francisco University in 2003 with a BA in Industrial Design. After years of designing logos and websites for non-profits, local camps and corporate clients, Josh knew his calling was to tell the God stories and ideas that he truly believed in. So when a position opened up at Fellowship, he leapt at the opportunity to use his abilities to share the gospel.
He married his high school sweet heart Heather (although if you ask Heather, Josh was not so sweet in those days). Josh and his wife Heather have been attending Fellowship from the first prequel services in late 2012. They have been called into a unique story of hope through adopting three children Macyn (8), Truly (5) and August (2). One of Josh’s deepest pleasures is spending time dancing, singing, creating art or traveling the world with his wife and kids (on a good day, you will find them at the beach).
